4 Coordinated Child Care Proposals

High QUality child care & decent work go hand-in-hand

CUPE 2484 is dedicated to building a better child care system in Toronto, Ontario, and across Canada. Our historic Raising the Floor coordinated bargaining campaign put our care ethics at the forefront of a member-led movement. Our members agreed across more than 25 child care sites to prioritize 4 decent work proposals that would close the disparity gap amongst work sites and stabilize child care services for our communities.

In Ontario, the number of ECEs needed has grown from 8500 to 10000 according to the latest Ontario Auditor General 2025 report. Our 4 coordinated bargaining proposals were developed with members to address the workforce retention crisis and ensure the $10 a day child care agreement gives more families access to affordable quality child care.

Our members signed on to a Unity Letter which outlines our commitment to building an equitable, long lasting, and quality child care system.
