Happy ECE & Child Care Worker Appreciation Day!

Dear Member,

This year's ECE & Child Care Worker Appreciation Day is especially significant. It is a time of transformation for our sector and we are tasked with imagining a different kind of early years; a different kind of world. While change can be scary and unpredictable, it can also bring relief and hope. Perhaps this is when we say goodbye to programming on our breaks? Maybe this is when we finally have staffing that is robust? Is this when we are all finally compensated properly for our work?

With the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care agreement being implemented and our historic Local 2484 Coordinated Bargaining Campaign underway, there is a lot to be hopeful about. The current reality of child care is admittedly very different, but we have made progress and it is entirely due to YOU. Families are receiving rebates on last year's fees because child care workers continued to provide services during COVID-19 and its recovery. You kept going to work under some of the most difficult conditions in history and now have the attention of the nation.

This is a time of evolution for our field, but also us as educators. We are at a moment when the world needs to hear your ideas and expertise. You have the knowledge and experience necessary to build a Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care program that will ensure your health and professional security. This year, we celebrate the competent and caring educators and workers you have always been, while also encouraging the emergence of an even stronger and more confident individual that has earned our endless admiration many times over.

Happy Early Childhood Educator & Child Care Worker Appreciation Day!
